ABOUT OUR ILLUSTRATED BOOKS PANELISTS

Victoria Craven joined The Monacelli Press as executive editor this past June where she’s been charged with starting up an applied arts program from scratch with a particular focus on fine art, art instruction, photography technique, and crafts. The Monacelli Press is a leading publisher of books on architecture, the fine arts, interior design, landscape architecture, photography, and graphic design. Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, TMP has some of the highest editorial, design, and production values in the industry, so it’s an exciting opportunity to marry that esteemed publishing tradition with a new, arts-centric how-to list (launching in spring 2016). Prior to Monacelli, she was most recently editorial director of Watson-Guptill, Potter Craft, Amphoto Books, Lone Eagle, Billboard Books, and BackStage Books, imprints of the Crown Publishing Group, Penguin Random House. She lives in Huntington, NY, with her librarian-husband, three kids, and two rescued black Lab-mixes.

Karen Murgolo is the VP, Editorial Director of Grand Central Life & Style, whose mission is to publish the most exciting and authoritative authors in the lifestyle and wellness categories. She’s edited and published lifestyle and nonfiction books throughout her career at the Doubleday Book Clubs, Bulfinch Press, and Grand Central. Her experience has led to expertise in cookbooks and food narratives, style, self-help, home, inspiration, and memoir. Among the authors she’s worked with are Gwyneth Paltrow (It’s All Good), Mario Batali (America Farm to Table), Daniel Boulud, (Daniel: My French Cuisine), Wolfgang Puck (Wolfgang Puck Makes it Healthy), Mireille Guiliano (French Women Don’t Get Facelifts), and Bobbi Brown (Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual).

Christopher Sweet is Editorial Director of Thames & Hudson Inc. He is the former Senior Specialist in Photography at artnet.com and he writes about art and photography. He is also the former Editor in Chief of Viking Studio (Penguin Group) and of the Vendome Press. His most recent books include Slim Aarons: La Dolce Vita (Abrams) and Ormond Gigli: Girls in the Windows and Other Stories (powerHouse).
