Happy Hour with Special Guests Sasha Quinton & Eric Compton, Scholastic Book Fairs

Sasha Quinton is EVP of Scholastic and President of Scholastic Book Fairs, in-school literacy events that put more than 100 million books in the hands of children every year, helping to foster a love for reading and generating more than 200 million dollars annually in cash and educational resources for schools. Sasha began her career in product development with Books are Fun in 2002 and in the ensuing 18 years has developed a reputation as a publishing industry thought leader. She spent nine years at ReaderLink Distribution Services, where she held leadership roles in product development, sales and marketing, culminating in her role as SVP, Marketing and Procurement in which she oversaw all marketing functions for the nation’s leading trade book distributor. Most recently, she served as VP and GMM, Bookstore, at Barnes and Noble, Inc., the largest retail bookseller in the U.S. She is also a Board Member for Bernie’s Book Bank, the leading provider of quality books to at-risk children in the Chicago area.

Eric Compton, Vice President of Product for Scholastic Book Fairs, has the “best job ever” working with a team of Category Managers whose goal is to get kids excited about books and reading. His team works with publishers and packagers to develop, source, acquire and curate the assortment of products appearing on over 100,000 US preschool through middle school book fairs each year. Eric also leads Tangerine Press, a Scholastic-owned creator of book-plus titles, activity kits, stationery, posters and novelty school supplies for kids. Eric joined Scholastic’s product group in 2004 after a career in retail working with May Department Stores, the Star Market Grocery chain in Boston, and specialty toy retailer Zany Brainy, where he honed his knowledge and love of kids’ products. Having his own small test market of two young daughters who loved to read helped make it clear that kids’ publishing is a great place to be.
