The American Book Producers Association is pleased to invite you to our next Master Class webinar: “Producing E-Books & Audiobooks Isn’t Brain Surgery” on Thursday November 12 at 2 p.m. EST. In their early days e-books and audiobooks were expensive and difficult to produce. Not anymore. With streamlined technology, simplified distribution, and a burgeoning field of experts to call upon, both e-books and audiobooks are format extensions that should be considered for nearly every book.
Our special guests, Beth Hicks, an independent audiobook producer and digital publishing specialist, and Lindy Humphreys, who heads ABRAMS Digital Publishing team, will demystify the development process while highlighting best practices and pitfalls to avoid.
Please note this session will be held via Zoom videoconference, which can be accessed from any desktop, laptop, or mobile device.

PRESENTERS’ BIOGRAPHIES
Beth Hicks has worked in publishing for almost a decade as an audiobook producer, director, and narrator, helping create beautiful audio for Penguin Random House, HarperCollins, and ABRAMS. She spends almost as much time on e-books and has fully embraced digital formats in a way her 10-year-old print-loving self never could have imagined. She is a storyteller and a story listener, who wants to make every story that’s published accessible to all. When she’s not immersed in a manuscript, she’s pandemic puzzling, walking the park for hours on end, and saying hello to every dog she sees.
Lindy Humphreys started in publishing when there was no email, and we all used pens. Often taking on the publishing projects that no one knew how to handle, she began working in digital publishing in the early 2000s, securing electronic rights and educating publishers (Wiley, Chronicle Books, ABRAMS) on how to develop, organize, and monetize files, a big deal once the Kindle was introduced. Lindy oversees e-book production and sales at ABRAMS and has been head of the Digital Publishing team since 2011.
