WHAT: Presentation with Advocate Art & Collaborate Agency
WHEN: Thursday April 29 at 1:30 p.m. EST
WHERE: Via Zoom Videoconference

Please join us for a members-only presentation by Advocate Art and its sister agency Collaborate—both invaluable resources for book producers—on Thursday April 29 at 1:30 p.m. EST. Advocate Art is a UK-based illustration agency with a stable of hundreds of artists that specializes in art for books. Collaborate is a full-service support agency that can provide manuscripts, design, animation, photography, and any services needed to support book producers. They’re a great go-to source when a project hits a wall. They can copy existing art styles when art needs are increased or an artist is unable to complete the work. As one of our members put it: “They have been a fabulous resource for me on several occasions. I think of them as my secret weapon.” I hope you’ll log in for the conversation. Who knows, they might become your secret weapon as well.

About Advocate Art

For over 20 years Advocate Art has been an industry leader in artist representation, and for good reason—we were founded on a core ethos we sum up as “F.A.C.T.s”, that is, Fairness, Ability, Creativity, and Trust. We think our principles set us apart from conventional agencies; sticking to them has meant we have attracted the most creative illustrators and artists who in turn attract (with a little help) the best clients.

Having offices spanning three continents, we have a “glocal” approach to each market we’re based in; we have staff in London, New York, Los Angeles, Seville, and now Singapore!

We primarily work with publishers and greeting card clients, but we have dipped our toes in industries as disparate as advertising and apparel to ceramics and puzzles. No matter what your illustrative need is, we’ve got it covered.

About Collaborate Agency

They used to tell us not to“tell tales,”to stop“making up stories.”Well, thankfully, our passionate team of rebelling, storytelling mavericks buck this trend every day.
Our talented designers, editors and illustrators are joyfully releasing around 30 new books a month into the wild. These books are being read by all ages, in all genres, as we relish the opportunity to tell great tales and make up wonderful stories.
Collaborate defines brand identities through developing interesting narratives and personalities. The art of storytelling gives us the ability to create incredible storyboards for movies and animations. Our content generation is honest, imaginative, and engaging. The content we generate for your books, for your brands, and for your learning and development programs will be rich in detail and thoughtfully crafted. Our staff is skilled across all creative disciplines, and we can develop your stories through to packaged files in both print and digital formats.
Our staff illustrators, editors, photographers, designers, web developers and animators are based in our Brighton, London, New York and Seville studios.

Our Guests

Kate Johnson—Advocate Art/Collaborate Agency
I have been part of the group for 18 years, originally as Publishing Agent for Advocate Art, then managing the team and establishing Collaborate Agency seven years ago, heading up all the creative services to provide Design, Concept Origination, Animation, Editorial, Copy Art, and Art buying—full creative service supporting our talented stable of artists. Based in the UK in the south coast city of Brighton. I manage a studio of in-house creatives with Creative Director David Moxey, but my superpowers are New Development. In my spare time I love testing out all the children’s products we create with my seven-year-old son, Jack.

Amanda Hendon—Advocate Art Inc
I have been with the amazing Advocate team since 2016, I joined Advocate as a part-time intern, and now four years later I’m proud to say I manage the team globally from NYC.

I received my BFA in Illustration from Parsons in 2015 which helped hone my keen eye when briefing artists; a self-professed visual person, art and aesthetics are something I take pride in being knowledgeable in, and I’m always on the lookout for the latest trends and styles. I love being able to help nurture and grow artists’ talent, as well as being able to link up the right client, artist and project—especially when I get to see the final result on store shelves.

In my free time I like traveling, reading (mostly fairytales and myths), window shopping at NYC’s premier boutiques, baking and spending time with my Chihuahua.

Susan Honeywell—Collaborate
I am new to Collaborate, having started at the beginning of this year. I was brought on board to focus on establishing new US-based clients and to also service Collaborate’s existing US clients. I have been in publishing for 22 years, working in the education market. My career has focused on art buying and art management and I am very excited to be on the other side of that work helping clients. In my leisure I love spending time with my family and two terrible rescue chihuahuas, Hank and Floyd.

This is a members-only event. If you’re a working book producer or work with a member of our network, please consider joining.
