From containers to shipping vessels to truck drivers, everything seems to be in short supply. Often, books are hitting the shelves late if at all, and authors are on tour without books to sign and sell.

Join top industry experts to learn more, including when we may near the end of these supply chain challenges in the coming seasons or if we should anticipate ongoing issues within this broken process.

Meet the Experts

Andrew Clarke is President of Asia Pacific Offset, Inc. Established in 1997, Asia Pacific Offset is a print management company with sales offices in New York, San Francisco, Washington, DC, London, Barcelona and Sydney; and production offices in Hong Kong and Shenzhen. Previously Andrew worked as a Director of Sales for Mandarin Offset. He emigrated from Ireland to the USA in 1991, and lives in Washington, DC.

Richard Burgess spent his formative working years located in overseas printers, specializing in complicated book manufacturing, from simple board books to complicated pop-ups. Then, at Scholastic, he managed their novelty book production and sourced tchotchkes for book-plus titles. With his sanity still relatively intact, he left the rigors of corporate publishing to establish his own consultancy, Impression, which brokers print production and project management for large and small publishers alike, manufacturing novelty books for publishers such as Simon & Schuster and Penguin Random House, and project manages for packagers such as The Book Shop, Ltd. He has two cats.

Wolfgang Schmid is the logistic consultant for Publiship Logistics Inc. Wolfgang founded Publiship Logistics, Inc. back in 2004 and was its President until his semi-retirement in 2013. Wolfgang is also still active as President of Surplus Logistics LLC, as well as Executive Vice-President of International Transport Management Inc., in various other fields of the logistics industry. Wolfgang attended the Logistics Institute of Munich, Germany, from which he graduated with a bachelor of Logistics in 1975. Wolfgang immigrated to the U.S. in 1978 and has been working in a variety of fields within the logistics industry in the U.S. ever since.
